Legend of the Dreamcatcher

Dreamcatchers are an authentic American Indian tradition, from the Ojibway (Chippewa) tribe.

Ojibway people would tie sinew strands in a web around a small round or tear-shaped frame--in a somewhat similar pattern to how they tied webbing for their snowshoes--and hang this "dream-catcher" as a charm to protect sleeping children from nightmares.

The legend is that the bad dreams will get caught in the web while pleasant dreams flow down the feathers.

Traditionally Native American dreamcatchers are small (only a few inches across) and made of bent wood and sinew string with a feather hanging from the netting, but wrapping the frame in leather is also pretty common, and today you'll often see them made with sturdier string meant to last longer.

During the pan-Indian movement in the 60's and 70's, Ojibway dreamcatchers started to get popular in other Native American tribes, even those in disparate places like the Cherokee, Lakota, and Navajo.

Today you see them hanging in lots of places other than a child's cradleboard or nursery, like the living room or your rear-view mirror.

A variety of Dreamcatchers are available from my salon.

"Dolls that remove worries", or trouble dolls, are very small and colourful dolls traditionally made in Guatemala. A person (usually a child) who cannot sleep due to worrying can express their worries to a doll and place it under their pillow before going to sleep. Some medical centres use them in conjunction with treatment for disease in children.

According to folklore, the doll is thought to worry in the person's place, thereby permitting the person to sleep peacefully. The person will wake up without their worries, which have been taken away by the dolls during the night. Parents may remove the doll during the night, reinforcing the child's belief that the worry is gone

What is a human aura?

The aura is the electromagnetic field that surrounds the human body (Human Energy Field-HEF) and every organism and object in the Universe.

The Human Energy Field as a collection of electro - magnetic energies of varying densities that permeate through and emit or exit from the physical body of a living person.

These particles of energy are suspended around the healthy human body in an oval shaped field. This "auric egg" emits out from the body approximately 2-3 feet (1 metre onaverage) on all sides. It extends above the head and below the feet into the ground.

Taking some pictures of plants recently in my salon I noticed something rather odd.
Checking the digital pictures closer I saw a little friendly face.
What do you think?

Do they resemble something which might be familiar?

Quan Yin
(also spelt Kuan Yin, Kwan Yin or Pinyin Guanyin)

Quan Yin (also spelt Kuan Yin, Kwan Yin or Pinyin Guanyin) is well known as the compassionate Regarder of the Cries of the World.

As we shall see, this Form of the Universal Dea is of great relevance and importance to our current world, providing us with a means of approach to the Daughter-Saviour stream of Divine Compassion. Instinctively many people in the West who love God the Mother turn to Quan Yin.

This is a very sound and important instinct, because Her cultus is probably the most important surviving form of the ancient cultus of the Sacrificial Saviour in Her original feminine form. In this respect, Quan Yin is closely related to Persephone, the Sacrificial Daughter and to the various ancient sacrificial Goddesses, such as Ishtar and Inanna.

In one important story, Quan Yin is depicted as being murdered and descending into Hell. There, She played music, and flowers blossomed around her, turning Hell into a paradise simply because She was there. In other versions, we are told that she released Her accumulated good karma thus freeing many suffering souls back to Heaven. This is the equivalent of the Harrowing of Hell in the Christian mythos.

Dr Edward Bach

(1886-1936)

In 1930, at the age of forty three, Dr Bach decided to search for a new healing technique. He spent the spring and summer discovering and preparing new flower remedies - which include no part of the plant but simply what Bach claimed to be the pattern of energy of the flower. In the winter he treated patients free of charge.

Bach did not use the scientific method to determine the claimed healing properties of his concoctions. Instead, Bach claimed to have psychically or intuitively discovered the healing effects of 38 wildflowers. His "discoveries" were arrived at by "inspirations." For example, while on a walk he had an inspiration that dew drops on a plant heated by the sun would absorb healing properties from the plant. He claimed that all he needed to do was hold a flower or taste a petal and he could intuitively grasp its healing powers. From these intuitions he went on to prepare "essences" using pure water and plants. Bach claimed that these wildflowers have a soul or energy with an affinity to the human soul. The flower's spiritual energy is transferable to water. Devotees drink a homeopathic concoction of flower essence, mineral water and brandy in order to get the flower soul to harmonize their own soul's energy.

Rather than recognizing the role of germ theory of disease, defective organs and/or tissue, and other known and demonstrable sources of disease, Bach thought that of illness as the result of "a contradiction between the purposes of the soul and the personality's point of view." This internal war, according to Bach, leads to negative moods and energy blocking, which causes a lack of "harmony," thus leading to physical diseases.

What are the Chakra's?

Chakra comes from Sanskrit meaning wheel. Of all the systems in the body the Chakra's are the least tangible and most mysterious as they go unseen to most people. The purpose of the chakra's is to transform the higher vibrational energy into a form that can be used by the human body.

There are many chakra's situated all over our body but the most prominent ones are the seven major chakra's running down the midline of the body in line with the spine. These seven chakra's each relate to particular organs within the body and particular emotions. When the chakra's are in balance each of the organs and emotions function properly.

Each of the chakra's spin at it's own frequency the slowest being the base chakra, the fastest being the crown chakra and create a connection between the physical body and the higher levels of consciousness. When we develop problems within our subconscious levels it leads to blockages within the chakra system. As the chakra's connect directly with the physical body through the nervous and endocrine system, these blockages cause the body to become less at ease with itself or diseased and if not corrected will manifest into a physical ailment.

Each chakra is associated with it's own colour, gemstone or crystal, characteristics and linked to a part of the body.
